Replacement and installation activities will mostly occur near and along the existing pipeline’s path, within our easements and at a safe distance away from inhabited structures and other utilities.

ExxonMobil Pipeline Company replaced approximately eight miles of an existing pipeline in the Baytown and Channelview areas between the Baytown refinery and Moore Road junction near the southeast intersection of Beltway 8 and Highway 90. ExxonMobil and its predecessors have safely operated multiple pipelines in these locations for many years. This work supported the continued safe and reliable operation of our pipelines in the region.
ExxonMobil Pipeline Company’s Pasadena Station is connected to a system of surrounding pipelines that transport a variety of distillates and fuels to the region. Pasadena Station receives product from Baytown 3 Products Station, stores it if necessary, and then distributes to multiple affiliates and locations in the area. The pipelines in this system vary in size up to 36 inches and are maintained and operated in the safest manner possible.
In 2020, ExxonMobil Pipeline Company replaced approximately 10 miles of pipeline segments in Baytown, Deer Park and Pasadena on its Pasadena Pipeline system. The construction work was safely completed in the Summer of 2020. We appreciate the cooperation of local officials who supported the safe and timely completion of this project.
The Houston region, the country’s No. 1 region for exports, is home to the largest petrochemical manufacturing complex in the Americas. Energy production and the export of crude oil, along with the increasing global demand for chemicals produced in the region, are major drivers of this success.
Largely because of petrochemical activity along the 52-mile ship channel, the nearly 200 private companies that make up the Greater Port of Houston have helped make the port the No. 1 U.S. port in foreign waterborne tonnage. Petroleum and petroleum products are leading import and export commodities.
ExxonMobil Pipeline Company installed two pipelines underneath the Houston Ship Channel between the areas of East Harris County and Baytown, Texas, using a technique called Horizontal Directional Drilling. Some of this work included activity on Alexander Island, an uninhabited island within the channel. This project was a part of our $500 million energy infrastructure investment in East Harris County, and will help power the regional economy while promoting U.S. energy security.
As part of our ongoing pipeline maintenance program and our continued investments in the region, ExxonMobil Pipeline Company replaced an existing 20-mile crude oil pipeline between EMPCo’s Webster Station in Webster, TX and ExxonMobil’s Baytown refinery in Baytown, TX. The work took place on and along a 20-mile pipeline corridor through parts of Webster, Houston, La Porte, Pasadena, Deer Park and Baytown. The replacement 36” pipeline supports delivery and takeaway crude service to and from ExxonMobil’s Baytown refinery, and reinforces the energy infrastructure network enabling domestic crude production from the Permian Basin in west Texas and southeast New Mexico.
ExxonMobil Pipeline Company’s Webster Station is an important piece of the network that transports oil and gas and the associated products that we use on a daily basis. The Webster terminal is a significant transition point along the Wink to Webster pipeline system, increasing overall receipt and takeaway capacity of crude oil products delivered across the Gulf Coast.
ExxonMobil Pipeline Company installed nine pipelines along approximately 70 miles of pipeline right of way between locations in Mont Belvieu, Daisetta and Beaumont area refining and chemical complex facilities. This new and replacement service provides safe and reliable interconnectivity for ExxonMobil Pipeline Company and other operators and customers across the region.
ExxonMobil Pipeline Company conducted maintenance and replacement work along more than 60 miles of pipelines in Liberty, Hardin and Jefferson Counties. Work began in 2022 and continued into 2023 in certain locations.
